Review: Got to Dance Live Semi-Final 1
Review: Got to Dance Live Semi-Final (24th January ‘10)

Pictured above: Kim with Got to Dance judge, Ashley Banjo
Last week Kim and the other judges were busy promoting Got to Dance ahead of its Live Semi Final on Sunday where we discovered that Kim was no longer a blonde, but a brunette and looking fabulous!! So, after searching Scotland, Manchester and London for the UK’s best dancers, the judges narrowed down the shortlist to 18 acts and the first semi-final would see six of the dance acts compete to go through to the final.

The audience were seated in the studio around 5pm and up until the show went live at 6pm, host Davina McCall was practising her introduction for Diversity’s performance (which had to be pre-recorded just before the live show). The front section of the studio was allocated to family and friends of the performers and the section behind the judges were allocated to the audience and being sat second row behind the judges was a guarantee for a good view! (pictured below)

The semi-finalists who were performing on the first show were: JukeBox Juniors, Bhangra Heads, Emily Crow, Status, Parallel and Martin Sierra. Putting Martin Seirra through to the semi-finals had been a ‘controversial’ decision (since he didn’t go through to the shortlist), neverthless was keen to see if he would impress judges, Ashley and Kim who gave him red stars at the auditions. Jukebox Juniors (who range from 11 to 13 years old) kicked off the show in their trademark colourful suits and showed such charisma, The Bhangra Heads brought enjoyable Asian flair to the semi finals, Emily Crow didn’t fail to display her flexibility – she had the audience gasping. After Parallel and Status (who were amazing) came Martin Sierra – he did the splits, bootyshaked and stutted the dancefloor in confidence but wasn’t enough to convince Ashley Banjo and Kim. After all the performers danced, and the voting had been cast after the commercial break Davina announced the two finalists going through were JukeBox Juniors and Emily Crow!
During the filming of the backstage clip when the show ended, the judges reviewed the night’s performances. Kim had praised Status when they performed and Kim said she was dissapointed that Status didn’t make the final. Once the filming was done I saw Kim very briefly and thanked me for coming to the show, her outfit was beautiful and loved the way she restyled her hair! Kim is underway for rehearsals for her dance performance on Got To Dance (part of the rountine will be her music) – CANNOT WAIT!!
Click HERE to watch the backstage clip from the first semi-final. Week 2 Semi-final sees performances from Kane Ricca, Matthew Koon, MJ Latin, DNA, Beyond Repair and Raw Edge compete to join Emily Crow and Jukebox Juniors in the final.
Nicole Asian Fan Project

PCD fans, Gladys and Chrisanna are putting together an Asian project for Nicole, please see further details below:
We are doing a special project for all of Nicole’s fans who are of Asian descent (I know this may sound unfair, but please continue reading). We all know that being part Asian has been a big deal for Nicole growing up as she said she never looked like anyone around her. Whenever she goes to Asia, she says she can connect with the people on a new level because of a special connection she feels and because she “looks like everyone else” there. With Nicole re-launching her solo career, we wanted to put something special together for her to show our support and as a New Years gift. This will show her all the love her Asian fans have for her and the special connection we also hold with her.
Here are the guidelines:
Please send:
1. Letter for Nicole (say whatever you want, wish her luck, express your love and support, etc.) LIMIT IS 1 PAGE.
2. One word that describes Nicole.
3. Something you want to say about how you identify with her due to her Asian decent. (This is the special feature of the project)
4. A high resolution picture of yourself or of yourself and Nicole if you have met her. (This will be for a mini collage).
5. Favorite PCD/Nicole song, Favorite Nicole picture, Favorite Nicole quote, Favorite Nicole moment. (For fun)
6. Please be sure to include: Name, Nationality, Location, Age (Just to show the diversity)
I will be putting this together and I promise you, she will 100% receive it.
DEADLINE is FEBRUARY 10TH.
Please send all entries to: nsasianfanproject@gmail.com
Love & Light,
Gladys & Chrisanna
